The Solution

We met their challenge and built version 1.0 of the predecessor of MatterTrack ®. The Web-based application placed responsibility for forecasts and actuals with the people who had the best view of the numbers – those billing for the work. We also added a feature to add notes, and quickly recognized how valuable that feature would prove. Context for any assumptions was the intended purpose, but it turned into notes describing the work before it was done and has consistently reduced duplicated effort. In a single instance, such knowledge saved more than the price of the software for the entire year.

Even better, the process was simpler for everyone. On a scale of 1-5 we averaged a 4.7 for ease of use with no training provided.

By the time the application was rolled out to all lawfirms world-wide, six of those eight full-time financial analysts have moved onto other work that makes better use of their skills and education.

The good news… We have dramatically improved the reporting features for client users and added several other features to build what has become that first accounting tool into a remarkable matter spend management system.

In addition to proven cost savings, the software was also credited with additional gains in productivity and efficiency.
